Rehearse the active shooter response, before it’s real.
Counterstrike Basic is a portable functional exercise that brings law enforcement, fire, and EMS around one map to rehearse the integrated active shooter response, from first call to last transport.

The whole response, on one map.
Everyone who shows up to a real active shooter event trains the response together, before it counts.
Train every discipline together
Law enforcement, fire, EMS, and command work the same map together and run the response from the first call to the last transport.
Easy to learn, ready anywhere
Simple to learn and fully portable. Run repeatable reps in a classroom, an apparatus bay, or a conference room, as often as your team needs.
Built by C3 Pathways
Part of the Counterstrike Professional Training System, used by hundreds of agencies nationwide.
How a Counterstrike Basic session runs
It is a hands-on functional exercise: your whole team working one live incident together, not a discussion around a table.
Set the scene
Lay out the environment map and stage your units, command, and resources for the scenario you want to run.
Run the response
Law enforcement, fire, EMS, and command work the incident live on one shared map, making the same decisions, in the same order, they would on a real call.
Debrief, then run it again
Talk through what happened, reset, and run it as often as your team needs. Every rep is repeatable and low cost.

Common questions
If your question isn’t here, request information.
- What comes in a Counterstrike Basic kit?
An environment map, staging and command maps, resource chips and markers, ICS command vests, and a carrying case. The only thing you supply is your team and a space to run it.
- Do we need anything else to run a session?
No. Counterstrike Basic is a complete, self-contained kit. You provide the people and a table or floor space.
- Is Counterstrike Basic eligible for grant funding?
Yes. Counterstrike Basic is eligible for grant funding, and many agencies purchase it through preparedness and training grants. Use the form above and we can point you to options.
- How is Counterstrike Basic different from CCA and Reunification?
Basic runs a single active shooter incident on one map. Counterstrike CCA scales up to two maps and simultaneous, multi-site incidents. Counterstrike Reunification adds the school response and the family reunification that follows.
- Can we run it more than once?
Yes. Every scenario is repeatable. Reset and run it as often as your team needs.
